Portions of the retaining wall and fence at St. John's church needed to be repaired and replaced due to damage from hurricane Gaston. St. John's Church is a National Historic Landmark and the new fence sections had to be an accurate reproduction of the original including the cast iron fence posts.
As Richmond's oldest operating iron foundry, it is only fitting that O. K. Foundry would provide the castings for the cast iron fence post assemblies for one of Richmond's most historic sites.
The techniques used to make the foundry patterns for these castings are very similiar to the methods that would have been used to make the original patterns for the fence post castings. The castings are exact reproductions of the orginal design and after the original fence is repainted it will be very difficult to tell the new sections from the old.
